BAS I

hello,
I bought a russian bass guitar on ebay that doesent work, so i registerd here to get a little help. cheesyguitars.com says its a Bas I (also called Solo Bass?)
http://www.cheesyguitars.com/solo_bass.html
the imput jack is a 5din jack so i bought a adapter kable.
when I connect the bass to an amp there is no sound. But after a few seconds the cable and the batterie you have to put into the bass (under the neckplate) gets really hot!
I tried all possible positions with the switches for the built in effekts but nothing happened.
the electronics of the bass look a bit old but there are no loose or broken kables.
If anyone has an idea what the problem could be I would be very happy if you could help me.
Maybe someone even has the manual for the Bas I.
here are some pictures of the bass and the electronics.

Hi, Andi!
As I suppose, there must be some "shorty" somewhere in the circuit.
Also, I'd recommend to change all the electrolytic capacitors. The original ones are quite crappy.
Maybe some of our electronics Guru also can recommend something.

If so, I can translate all their answers.

thanx StariyDed and Les for the quick answers!
I will look for the "shorty"!
Could you tell me which one of the manuals in the СХЕМЫ. Только Схемы. threat is the Bas I manual?
I found the manual for the guitar model but I am not shure if its the same for the bass.

It's the first schematic you see, when you open first link.

И в первую очередь проверить, вот этот конденсатор:

Hi!

To play this guitar you need a special cable first. Check if there was a cable with the bass? The output socket has 4 and 5 numbered pins. These pins must be short-circuit to plug the scheme on. The native cable contains this short-circuit. "Hot" pin is numbered 1, "ground" is 2. Put in the 9v battery that is located under the neckplate.

U can play it passive mode, but most of the switches will not work.

If it will work noisely in active mode u should change all the electrolytic capacitors (look like an aluminium barrels). Be careful and observe the polarity.

Good luck and... welcome to the Club!

Oh. I`ve read the 1st post closely...
U shall change the capacitors. All of them first. StariyDed said correctly: c25 is short-circuit.

Does the bass work in passive mode?

One more idea. Check the output socket of the bass.

Maybe someone wanted the effects work always and connected the 4 and 5 pins right in the socket. This is a usual thing. BUT he could make this carelessly - and make a short-circuit right in the socket, pins 4,5 and 2.

thanks for the help Басист Кайф!
There was no cable with the bass when I bought it. It also doesnt work in passive mode.
I will try to change the capacitors if I can find a shop that sells the ones I need.
I never repaired electronic stuff on a guitar so everything is new and confusing for me but I will try my best.

Check the adapter and guitar socket pins! They may be NOT equal. So, I think they ARE not equal.

There is a "Ш1" detail in the wiregram, it`s the output socket. U can find the pin numbers right on it, just near the pins.

The adapter pins must be soldered in a similar. There is one more wiring for this (ВНЦ-ВГ-5) plug & socket, like used in the hi-fi audio. These adapters are made for hi-fi, NOT for guitars!

thanks Басист Кайф!
I think you are right about the output socket. the adapter I bought was from a hifi-audio shop so I am very sure its just as you said, not made for guitars...

D'une manière intéressante... А sur japonais qui peut ?
